Options for Full Day or Half Day Program offered 5 days a week (except
July 4) - Set your own training days to balance other commitments (for
ex. train 3 or 4 days a week is okay)

Our new TEAM ALCAN Summer
program is in response to the needs and desires of the Fairbanks community and of our society in
general.

is offer a summer-long
program of
quality instruction and opportunity for athletic development.We aim to expand our influence to develop
good nutritional and training habits while providing a full season of
activity,
cross-training, and skill development.We
aim to make the camp affordable and accessible
for all kids. Program

staff includes current and former professional and collegiate
athletes in

curriculum on
healthy living and good habits.

Training: Our focus
during our daily speed training will be to improve speed, agility, and
quickness.We apply age appropriate
development strategies identified for athletes and apply these new
skills in
our sports program over the course of the summer. Speed
training improves speed through greater balance, core stability,
strength, and
fluidity.Exercises, drills, and games
will be used to train the basics of speed on a daily basis at Ultimate
Summer. The
importance of Speed Training in the context of athletic growth is that
it helps
the child develop as a strong, healthy, coordinated individual.This strong, healthy, coordinated individual
will have greater success in sports, at play, and in other lifetime
pursuits.If the child decides to
challenge him/herself later as an elite athlete, this speed training
provides a
strong base for all future sports endeavours. Team ALCAN
will divide up into age groups for this part of the program. Strength Training Our focus
during daily strength training will be to introduce the child to
strength
training with the emphasis on proper technique and safety. Strength training (not weightlifting) is
beneficial for all ages and aims to:
improve
strength and endurance
protect
muscles and joints from injury
improve
performance in sports
overall
health benefits including: strong bones, boosted metabolism, improved
immune
system and boost in self esteem
Strength
training for this age group utilizes the child's own body weight, along
with
medicine balls and resistance bands to promote balanced development and
growth.We will also describe the
anatomy and physiology of the human body and give suggestions for
continued strength
training at home. We aim to
build a foundation for strength training for the child to progress
through a
lifetime of good health and achievement. Team ALCAN
will divide up into age groups for this part of the program. SELECTED
PRIMARY SPORT Our focus
during Selected Primary Sport is to emphasize skill development and
training in
the sport(s) selected by the child during registration.This will be a small group activity with
focus on instruction in correct form and repetitions for individual
skills.We encourage athletes to cross
over to other sports from week to week to provide a well-rounded
Ultimate
Summer experience. TEAM ALCAN will divide up into sport-specific groups for
this part of the program
and
includes a hockey option during which hockey players will practice at
the Patty
Center Ice Arena on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Full Day Program $2000
- less than 9 weeks will be prorated at
$250 per week
Half Day Program $1000
- less than 9 weeks will
be prorated at $125 per week

ADDITIONAL EXTRAS
In harmony with our emphasis on healthy habits, ALCAN provides early
breakfast and nutritious fruit & vegetable breaks to the team at no
charge.
FAMILY DISCOUNTS
TEAM ALCAN will offer a 10% discount on the second family member, and
15% discount on each addtional family member enrolled in the program.
