ALCAN Hockey
FULL DAY PROGRAM

We have had many questions about the ALCAN Full Day Program, and what sets it apart from other hockey schools.  It is simple: We Care, We Listen, and We Teach.  We consider it a wonderful opportunity to teach youngsters more than just the “x’s and o’s”, but make the week a special experience full of learning, activities, and experiences to take with them long after they have left ALCAN.

We call this the SCRUFF System: Skills, Creativity, Respect, Understanding, Fun, & Fundamentals.

FULL DAY PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

We are proud that ALCAN has the best of both worlds with our Full Day Program; On the Ice we have been innovators on the use of ice time and ice surface, and our Off Ice Program is second to none in creativity and enrichment

On Ice Program: with two sessions amounting to 3 hours of Ice time a day, we designed this program to offer more than enough time to concentrate on individual skills, and include fun and games as well.  We aim to Teach!

  • 3 Zone System: ALCAN has used the 3 zone system for over a decade, so that the players and coaches will teach and learn in smaller groups (typically 8-10 players), and maximize the ice surface.
  • Instructors Galore! We draw on the abundant experience of Professional and Collegiate players & coaches to teach and learn with our participants.
  • No waiting in lines! At ALCAN we learn and play, not stand and wait.

Individual Skills: Focus on Individual skills so players challenge themselves regardless of skill level to develop and maintain solid habits.

  • Skating: emphasis on the ALCAN Powerskating Method employed during camp
  • Shooting & Stickhandling: elements of the ALCAN Goal Scoring program to inspire individuals to challenge themselves
  • Safety & Respect: we take this opportunity to prepare players for situations in the game of hockey and danger areas on the ice.

GOALIE PROGRAM:
The program will emphasize the Individual Skills of Goaltending. We will focus on the proper techniques to maximize potential in each skill. Our Goalie Instructors will be announced in May as many of the coaches and players around the world are still involved with their own clubs at this time.  The ALCAN Goalie program focuses on small group instruction typically 4- 6 goalies.  The ALCAN System allows the instructor to teach as a small group, and also spend time with each goalie on an individual basis.  This program is designed to focus on the following:
• Basic Fundamentals                                   - Stance & Positioning
• Rebound Control                                        - Understanding Angles
• Skating & Mobility                                      - Breakaway Theory
• Training techniques for the off season.     - Training techniques During the Season

Off Ice Program: our program is second to none, as we have taken the off ice hockey school to new levels

  • Summer Training Techniques: stick handling and shooting program to practice at home all summer long as desired
  • Fitness Training: fun workouts for youngsters to work on the power and strength by our hockey certified fitness instructor
  • ALCAN Workbook: daily workbook and summer reference guide and souvenir
  • Enrichment Activities: team building events, and exercises for our players to become “Students of the Game of Hockey”
  • Theme of the Day: ALCAN celebrates hockey with different themes each day, including World Hockey & College Hockey Day.

Players and Families with other commitments are welcome at ALCAN.
