The
ALCAN Full Day Program sets us apart from other programs because at
ALCAN our philosophy is simple: We Care, We Listen, and We Teach.
We consider it a wonderful opportunity to teach youngsters more than
just drills, and make their week a special experience full of learning,
activities, and experiences to take with them long after they have left
ALCAN.
We
call this the SCRUFF System: Skills, Creativity, Respect,
Understanding, Fun, & Fundamentals.
FULL DAY PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
We
are proud that ALCAN has developed a successful format with our Full
Day Program. We have been innovators on the use of time and
surface area, and our programs are second to none in creativity and
enrichment.
Small Group Instruction & Learning
Stations: with over two hours devoted each day to Small Group
Instruction, the participants get individual instruction and
reinforcement. The program is designed to offer more than enough
time to concentrate on individual skills, and include fun and games as
well. We aim to Teach!
- Learning
Stations: Players and coaches
will teach and learn in smaller groups of players, and maximize the
field surface.
- Instructors
Aim of Fundamentals: We encourage our instructors to be involved in the
teaching and development of great fundamentals in the small group
experience.
- No
waiting in lines! At ALCAN we learn and play, not stand and wait.
Individual Skills: Focus on
Individual skills so players challenge themselves regardless of skill
level to develop and maintain solid habits.
- Athletic
Skills: emphasis on Speed, Agility, and Quickness.
- Offensive:
introduce and strengthen great habits for stance, ball handling,
passing, catching, blocking.
- Defensive
Fundamentals: stance, off the ball, reading plays, taking blocks, and
rotation.
- Safety
& Respect: we take this opportunity to prepare players for all
kinds of game & life situations.
Games: Team & Small Groups:
At ALCAN we focus on the “fun” in fundamentals by encouraging our youth
with a variety of Small Group Games, which include Enrichment
Activities: team building events, and exercises for our players to
become “Students of the Game”. In Team Games, our instructors
take charge by actively participating with the players to give them
personal attention, and make the games a fun and positive experience
for everyone.
Summer Training Techniques: we
encourage players to continue their football progression with a program
to practice at home all summer long
- Fitness
Training: fun workouts to work on power and strength developed by our
fitness instructor
- ALCAN
Workbook: daily workbook and summer reference guide and souvenir
HALF DAY PROGRAM:
Players
and Families with other commitments are welcome at ALCAN. We understand
there are work schedules to abide, so we offer the Half Day Program in
the morning or afternoon. The players simply stay with their
group until their parent arrives for pickup, or joins right in when
they come in the afternoon. It’s that simple.
AGE GROUP CATEGORIES: ALCAN uses the
American Youth Football Association of Fairbanks age classification.
INSTRUCTORS: we will invite Alaskan
Coaches and players with College experience, and the top High School
athletes to assist in the program. In addition, we will invite Out of
Town Instructors to come to Fairbanks and participate in the
program. The advance registration gives us the opportunity to
invite Guest Instructors from throughout America to Fairbanks to
participate in the program, and create a special experience with our
players. More information about the instructors will be
announced.
